Ghosts in the Schoolyard: Racism and School Closings on Chicago's South Side, by Eve L. Ewing.

Dr. Ewing is one of my favorites, so finding the sociological corner of her mind was like an illicit treat. As usual, she did her big one with this: the writing, the gathering of data, the analysis, and the care — all characteristics of Dr. Ewing’s writing that draw me and keep me every time.

This topic specifically touched me differently, as is the case with anything pertaining to children and/or education. Dr. Ewing drew circles of truth around everything, and I’m happy to have learned more about the illusion of Chicago and, more importantly, what Chicago truly is and what the city means to those who grew there. A really, really good read.
