In the Dream House: A Memoir, by Carmen Maria Machado.
This is one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read, and it’s teetering on the line of favorite. It is so raw and reflective, and it sears with pain and realization both at once. Carmen’s voice touches your face throughout, turning you with her as she remembers a period of her life several times over, and I’m so thankful for her choice to show the readers how love can balance on regret and gratitude at the same time.
