Sisters of the Yam: Black Women and Self-Recovery, by bell hooks.

Where I learned that addictions are stealthy, that the realization of taking care of my hair being seen as a luxury and an act worth taking time to do was not betted on by capitalism, that Black women are still looking for the life-affirming touch that escaped them as Black girls, and that in order to really live, I will have to die a little every day. One of my favorites of the year.
