The Lonely Stories: 22 Celebrated Writers on the Joys & Struggles of Being Alone, edited by Natalie Eve Garrett.

I learned so much from this book. As someone who’s fairly resolute in her decision to live (and largely, be) alone until something sweeter changes a mind, I’m still not considering an alternative just because I read this book, but I am looking at solitude a little differently. And I’m gripping it a little less tightly, too.

In some stories, I see a reason to reconsider. In other stories, I smile at recognizing a correct choice when it’s made. Throughout it, I kept coming back to Imani Perry’s testimony of her children and thought it was one of the most tender things I’ve ever read.

Wherever you are through it all, this book is a consideration and an option to keep open.
