The Secret Lives of Church Ladies, by Deesha Philyaw.

This is my favorite comprehensive collection of short stories to date. If you have roots in the Black American South, this book is an experience that you remember with all of your senses. It is nostalgic to read, even if you’re still there.

Faves from within: Not-Daniel, Dear Sister, How to Make Love to a Physicist (!!!), Jael, and Instructions for Married Christian Husbands. (Damn near all 9 stories.)
