The Whispers, by Audrey Audrain.
This is my favorite fiction book since Fleishman is in Trouble. It is one of my favorite books ever, and I am just in awe—such a fan—of Ashley Audrain. It holds the layers of womanhood, motherhood, friendship, the complicity and power found in silence, the insides of marriage, the outside armor one must assume to survive it all, and is still—somehow—so new and compelling and unlike anything anywhere. It is incredible. Please experience it for yourself.
