Terrific Mother: Faber Stories, by Lorrie Moore.
This book has turned into one I carry with me always and everywhere, partly because it’s a tiny thing of 70-ish pages and partly because I can turn to any page and rip a writing prompt straight from it. It is so simple—probably something you’ll forget after it’s over—but so full of emotion. It’s captivating, I guess. I think that’s the best word for it.
